I JUST FINISHED IT!!!

I know I am a “tard” – I JUST finished the 6th book –

I have been a visitor to Hogwarts, every year that Harry Potter has been there – fatefully reading about his escapades, ever since I started with the very first book back in high school, reading mostly when I was supposed to reading more, well, boring books!

I remember being immersed into Harry’s world, often reading a book in a matter of a day or just a little more…

Back then it was the work of J.K. Rowlings, Harry Potter and Stephen King’s, The Stand, that reminded me that books can and do open up worlds, near and far, to there readers. These books reminded me that, you really could travel anywhere! Hey, they reminded me that reading is FUN – something I had sorta forgotten with all the “Beowulf” (and the like) that we were, well, forced to read! (Good Literature is totally wasted on the young!)

You may think that these are weird books, and I have to agree but those are the books I remember reading MOST as a teen, in high school, they are the books that I read in just mere days!

So you may ask, WHY am I JUST now finishing the 6th book – when the 7th has just come out?

Well, when the 5th book came out in 2003 – I had a bit going on that year, Zachary was born in 2003 (in November) – So life was what you might call – B.U.S.Y! I just did NOT have the time, to read, or to even think.

Though I have to say I TRIED – that book for some reason (for me) was just really hard to “break into.” So I waffled and put it away.

But then with the impending ultimate 7th book coming out and with my sister (awesomely) giving me a PREORDERED 7th book – I just had to get back ON the stick!

SHHH – I cheated – (Don’t yell at me) – I actually went to see the 5th movie, instead of reading the book. I know, I know – it’s NOT the same – believe me I know…. but the 7th book was coming and the movie had JUST come out – so I figured why not…

So, after seeing that with Amanda, she assured me that the movie held enough info that I would be able to understand fully the 6th book – so off I embarked with Harry once more…

I actually started on the way down to the beach, I had these great hopes of finishing the book WHILE at the beach, in order to immediately start reading 7 when we returned home (ironically coming home ON the day that the 7th book came out) but well 4 hours in a car with a 3 ½ year old does NOT yield to easy reading – then at the beach – well we were busy, the pool, the beach, the sand dunes, the light houses, even the putt putt! I was to busy spending time with my family to delve into Harry’s world…

As soon as we returned home though, I started reading – I don’t have much time to read, I am always telling everyone, with work, the kids, cleaning and other things well, reading has NOT been high on my list of “things to do.” Matter of fact this is the first book NOT about kids or a toddler book that I have read since Zachary was born! (Man that’s horrible.)

But with in a week, I got it all finished, I am thrilled and so very excited about reading again – I just cant WAIT to devour the 7th book now – I got it all ready, sitting here so that I can start in on it tomorrow…

I must say that I am very excited about one day reading these books to/with Aubrey (and Zachary when that time comes) they are so exciting, and really, I think have some pretty good lessons in them.

It also makes me VERY happy to see that Aubrey LOVES reading – often devouring a book that she’s “gotten into” in a day or even an hour!

So, what’s everyone reading these days, any REALLY good books out there? I like romance, but then with out a “significant other” they can be hard to read, I also like books like The Stand and Harry (of course) – so what ya got for me?

On a side note, I am working on a NEW project – so for all of you that might be reading that own baby, pregnancy, mother, woman’s websites, shoot me an email…I am working on putting together a scavenger hunt though out tons of websites…It should be fun – but is JUST in the beginning stages right now, but everything’s gotta begin somewhere right?
